LeBron James: 29 Out Of 30 Points Is The Best Playoff Performance Of All Time

Lakers star LeBron James enters his 17th season in the NBA. He is playing his best basketball, but fans will always remember his brilliant playoff performance on May 31, 2007. LeBron was part of the Cleveland Cavaliers back then, and his teams was playing the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals.

LeBron scored 29 out of the Cavaliers’ final 30 points of the game. Everyone would agree that this is one of the best playoff performances of all time.

LeBron was a 22-year-old basketball player at that point. It was his fourth season in the NBA, and he had already established himself as a bona fide superstar. LeBron earned his third consecutive All-Star nod that season. It was a magnificent year for LeBron. He led the Cavaliers to a 50-win season, and it was the second-best record in the Eastern Conference entering the postseason.

In the Eastern Conference Finals, LeBron and the Cavaliers would face off against the Detroit Pistons who were the first seed in the conference. Chauncey Billups and the team took the first two games of the series in their home floor, but the Cavaliers bounced back, and evened out the series winning Games 3 and 4.

Game 5 was actually the pivotal game. The Pistons played at home, and it didn’t go in favor of LeBron’s team.

“When the lights were the brightest, LeBron James would happily oblige. It was a tight contest from the get-go, and when it mattered the most, James made sure that he would make his mark in what would turn out to be an historic contest.

“With 3 minutes remaining in the fourth and final frame, the Pistons were in the driver’s seat, holding a seven-point advantage. James knew what was at stake, and with his team in a hole, he took the ball hard to the basket, coming up with a three-point play. Little did anyone know that this was the start of what was literally a one-man show.”

LeBron drove to the basket and had a strong finish. He tied the game at 91 with less than 10 seconds remaining of the match. He sent the game into overtime. He kept it going in the two overtime periods, scoring the team’s 18 points in the extra frames.
