Patriots Made Decision On Edelman’s Status For Game Vs. Jets After Chest Injury

Julian Edelman left the game due to an injury. He walked towards the locker room, and there was no official ruling on his status. Now we know that the wide receiver won’t come back.

Edelman is officially ruled out for the rest of the game. Defensive lineman Adam Butler is questionable to return due to a leg injury.

The Patriots strengthened their receiver unit, and Edelman had less targets than he usually does.

“I think it is everyone buying into the process of improvement,” he said, via WEEI.com. “That is what September is about. It’s about going out and learning your team and improving your team through practice and games. When you have guys who are unselfish and really buy into that, the best stat is the win stat. That is what I am looking forward to and that is what I look forward to doing, is trying to play your best game on Sunday and collect wins.”

He missed a great portion of the summer, but was active in the preseason.

“It was awesome,” Edelman said. “Anytime you go out and you get to compete with your team and get hit, that’s what you look forward to. That was then, and now we’re looking forward to the Pittsburgh Steelers and seeing what they’re gonna do. We did have a good amount of practice reps. You also take mental reps. Nothing comes easy, and any time you have to go out there and perform, you definitely have to had prepared well, and I think that’s what we’re trying to do.”

It’s a new season for the receiver, and he is more than thrilled to share the field with new players.

“I’m extremely excited for the new year,” he said before suffering his thumb injury. “This is a new team. With training camp coming up, this is kind of like when school’s back in session. We had summer break. You get to see the fellas. But this is where you learn the team, learn (about) each other, become accountable for each other, and work hard together, and create a consistency together,” he said. “This is the beginning shape form of your team, these next few weeks. It’s a crucial point. We put a lot of hard work in during the spring. It’s the next step toward playing with other teams. So it’s definitely exciting.”
