Report: Julian Edelman Got Injured, Questionable For The Game

The New England Patriots are playing the New York Jets in Week 3. They are 20-0 at this point of the game, but wide receiver Julian Edelman gave us a scare.

The wide receiver came up holding his ribs after a catch with 1:20 left of the half. Edelman went down the tunnel towards the Patriots locker room.

Josh Gordon suffered an injury, too. He walked off the field gingerly, and was checked in the sideline medical tent. The wide receiver had a bad landing following a defensive pass interference penalty deep downfield. He left the tent a few minutes later, and sat on the bench.

Gordon was on the sideline at the beginning of the second half, but we couldn’t see Edelman. According to the team, Edelman is questionable to return due to his chest injury. If he doesn’t return by the end of the game, the Patriots will have to play with Gordon, Phillip Dorsett and Jakobi Meyers. Gunner Olszewski may also see some playing time in four-receiver sets.

This isn’t the scenario everyone was waiting for. The Patriots have the strongest receiver unit in the NFL, but they can’t lose Edelman at this point. Although the wide receiver sees less targets than usual, losing him would be terrible for the Patriots.

“I think it is everyone buying into the process of improvement,” Edelman said, via WEEI.com. “That is what September is about. It’s about going out and learning your team and improving your team through practice and games. When you have guys who are unselfish and really buy into that, the best stat is the win stat. That is what I am looking forward to and that is what I look forward to doing, is trying to play your best game on Sunday and collect wins.”

The New England Patriots are having a really good game despite the injuries. Antonio Brown doesn’t play as he was released Friday, but it looks like the Patriots didn’t even need him for this game. The Jets have a lot of injured players, too. It’s a nice game for the Patriots nation, and we already know the winner.
