Steph Curry Responds to Kevin Durant’s Comments About Warriors’ Lack Of ‘Full Acceptance’

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Kevin Durant said he wasn’t accepted in the Golden State. He made a few comments about the Warriors and the way they “accepted” him. Stephen Curry responded to Durant’s comments in a conversation with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols.

“I mean, that’s tough,” Curry told Nichols.

“There’s so many narratives that go on, especially when you’re at the top of the league,” Curry added. “No matter how, you know, the full transition happens to Brooklyn, him separating himself from the Warriors — that’s gonna happen. I think he knows, you know, what we were about as teammates, what we were about as friends on and off the court. And again, nobody is gonna take away the accomplishments we had.

“But at the end of the day, whatever he, you know, needed to do to make that decision and however he wants to explain that — that’s just what’s gonna happen.”

Curry didn’t provide any direct response to the comments his former teammate made. But, he definitely mentioned his role in the 2020 Olympics.

“That is the plan, for sure,” Curry told Nichols. “You know, obviously knock on wood, you don’t want any injuries or things like that to interfere.”

This will be of great help for Team USA. Let’s not forget the unexpected seventh-place finish in the recent FIBA World Cup. This was the worst finish in the country’s history. If by any chance you don’t know, Curry has never participated in the Olympics.

Curry and Durant may reunite on the 2020 Olympics team.

Awkwardly, Curry may reunite with Durant on that 2020 Olympics team. Judging by Curry’s perspective, however, it sounds like they’ll be on good terms.

“I wish we could still play with K,” Curry said. “He’s an unbelievable talent, unbelievable person. We accomplished a lot together. But things have changed a little bit. So you obviously wish him the best, obviously with his recovery first and foremost and things on and off the court. But we’re gonna have to battle down the road. So this should be a fun, new experience on that front, too.”
