TB12 is pretty specific when it comes to building a relationship with his receivers.

“I have confidence in them certainly,” Brady said in 2018. “You know, Phillip [Dorsett] and Chris [Hogan] have obviously played a lot. I’ve played a lot with them last year. And Cordarrelle’s [Patterson] new and he’s done some good things – obviously, it’s the reason why he’s here. He’s a really good player and he’s been productive in the league.

“To be on this team, you’ve got to be a good football player and, you know, the guys that are out there, I have certainly a lot of confidence in. Hopefully – again, we’re all going to be learning on the fly and you’ve got to build as the season goes. We’re in a certain place now, but this is not where we want to be as we get through the season. Every week we want to build on things and there’s no way to replicate what we’re about to go up against and that’s why you got to through it. So we’ll see where we’re at.”

Former Patriots know what Brady wants from his receivers. Deion Branch had the perfect advice for the Patriots receiver unit.

“Be the first guy in the building,” he said last season. “The last guy out. Get extra time in with Tom. Being in the NFL shouldn’t be the end result. It should always be about being the best you can possibly be to help your team with a championship. Whatever it takes. (Tom) carries himself that way. I know that’s what he expected that from the rest of the guys as well.
Yes, we all know that TB12 will have all the respect in this world if you find a way to deal with his intensity and dedication.

“In practice and in meetings and the conversations we had in the past and still have, it’s about competing,” Branch added. “You really can’t gauge, just looking at the film, how competitive he is. You can only really feel that if you’re around him on a regular basis in the huddle or the meeting room. You have to match that competitiveness. That’s just part of being in New England. That’s what it takes to win all of those rings. Every guy on that team is very competitive. Every guy brings their A-game in the game.”
