LeBron Texted Kendrick Perkins That He’s Going To Prove He’s Still The Best Player In The NBA

LeBron James couldn’t lead the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA playoffs for the first time since 2006. This triggered an avalanche of reactions, and many said that LeBron is getting too old to play the game. Some even said that he isn’t the best player in the NBA. What about Kendrick Perkins?

ESPN and Sports Illustrated ranked LeBron James third. This happened for the first time in more than a decade, and we got confused. LeBron didn’t get a single first-place vote for MVP for the first time since 2016. In 2016, Stephen Curry was voted MVP, and it was a clear cut.

There are people who say that LeBron has something to prove. Well, he is ready to remind us who he is. His first season with the Lakers was a failure, but that won’t happen again.

Kendrick Perkins was on the RADIO.COM podcast, Scal & Pals, talking about his top 10 players in the NBA and what King James had to say in response.

“’I had Giannis at No. 1 because I had to show respect that he won the MVP last year, his team had the best record in the league, had the best offense, best defense in the league last year,’ Perkins said.”

“I texted LeBron and said that’s the only reason I had you No. 2. Know what he told me? ‘In due time I will reclaim my throne.’”

How long can he keep it up?” Dave McMenamin wrote. “Though James’ averages of 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists while playing a career-low 35.2 minutes per game last season suggest he is still in dominant form, his VORP (value over replacement player) and PER (player efficiency rating) were both the lowest they’ve been since his rookie season. If James keeps defying Father Time with some younger talent in Anthony Davis and Kyle Kuzma to help share the load, L.A. should be a force. If he can’t, then the Lakers could have real challenges.”

It’s a tough situation, but LeBron is the greatest of all time, so he shouldn’t have problem reclaiming the throne. We believe he will do that this season.
