Tom Brady Gives His Take On Rob Gronkowski Joining Fox As NFL Studio Analyst

Retired Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will join Fox as an analyst for their “FOX NFL Sunday” pregame show. His former teammate, Tom Brady talked about Gronk’s job.

“He’ll be good,” Brady said. “He’s been pretty good at everything he’s done. He’s — yeah, I didn’t know that. Good for him. Great opportunity.”

When asked if Gronk will stay on this position for too long, Brady provided a short answer. “I don’t know,” he said. “That’s great. It’s great to a lot of our guys get a lot of great opportunities like that.”

Well, Gronk will start off at the right moment. Fox made the announcement, and the former tight end will make his debut Thursday night before the primetime match between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining FOX Sports,” Gronkowski said in a statement, according to Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper. “For the past 25 years, they’ve offered viewers top-notch NFL programming from the field to the booth to the studio. Their deep talent roster is unmatched, which was important for me as I embark on this new chapter in my life because I’ll be able to learn from the best in the business.”

Gronkowski made his name in the league as the greatest tight end in football during his time in New England. In nine seasons, Gronk was able to catch 521 passes for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns. He was a five-time Pro Bowler, four-time first-team All-Pro and three-time champion. 

Gronk’s 17 touchdown receptions in the 2011 season is the most in history by a tight end in a single season, and tied for fifth most overall.
