NFL Analyst Sends Warning To Rest Of The League Amid A.J. Green-Patriots Trade Rumors

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick knows how to seal a gigantic deal, and it looks like he is after a star player. Again. According to Ryan Clark, Belichick may go after A.J. Green prior to the NFL’s trade deadline.

Last week, Cincinnati Bengals coach Zac Taylor said that the team won’t shop the star wide receiver, but the window for his move is still open.

Jalen Ramsey was traded to the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday despite the fact that the Jacksonville Jaguars weren’t interested in trading him.

CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora discussed the Patriots’ need for a receiver and tight end. According to him, Green and tight end Tyler Eifert fit perfectly in the team.

“Rival general managers I spoke to agreed that the Bengals could get a first-round pick for Green, 31, if the acquiring team was able to negotiate a new deal for him and if Green returns from his foot injury soon. It is highly unlikely that Green signs an extension with the Bengals, I’m told. League sources said the Saints and Patriots are among the teams most deeply looking for pass catching help, and both would have interest in oft-injured tight end Tyler Eifert as well, who is making just $1 million this season.”

In another column he wrote that, “The Patriots have issues at the offensive line, tight end and receiver, and are expected to push for players like Bengals receiver A.J. Green and/or tight end Tyler Eifert; those players also appeal to the Saints, sources said, who made a real effort to land Denver’s Emmanuel Sanders a year ago and likely would again.”

Antonio Brown is out of the league now, and several Patriots wideouts struggle with injuries. Talented pass-catchers are a need for the team, and Green is a good fit.

Clark warned everyone about the power of the Brady-Green duo.

“Listen, I think a guy like A.J. Green is a fit anywhere,” Clark said Tuesday on ESPN’s “NFL Live.” “When you look at a team like the New England Patriots — I mention them one, because they have a need. Two, the Patriots do things like this. They want to make their team better as the season progresses. Now, the rest of the league would be sick about it, but if you can add a guy like A.J. Green with Tom Brady, we’ve seen what he’s done when he has a No. 1 pass-catcher whether it’s Randy Moss, Rob Gronkowski. You add A.J. Green, it’s going to get really scary for a lot of teams that have to face the Patriots.”
