Injury Report: Patriots’ Josh Gordon Dealing With Multiple Ailments Ahead Of Game Vs. Jets

Josh Gordon may not join the team for their game against the New York Jets. He sat out practice Thursday for the second time this week after leaving Thursday’s win over the New York Giants due to a knee injury. Gordon has an ankle issue as confirmed by the team’s most recent injury report.

Tight end Matt LaCosse didn’t practice this week, too. He will miss at least a few games due to an MCL sprain. Receivers Julian Edelman (chest) and Phillip Dorsett (hamstring), running back Rex Burkhead (foot) and safety Patrick Chung (groin/chest) were limited participants in practice.

Burkhead hasn’t seen action since Week 4, and he sat out the Patriots’ last two games. Dorsett was injured in Week 5 and didn’t suit up for the match against the Giants, but he may play on Monday. Chung left the game against the Giants due to a chest injury.

When it comes to Gordon, he is positive about his role on the field.

“It felt good,” he said after one of the games. “Good run game, good ball movement, once we started getting in that rhythm things started opening up. We wanted to finish strong, most importantly, finish every drive. I think we wore them down, kept the pace, kept the tempo going and then something changed. It was great.

“When we get to this juncture, it depends on how we want to see things develop. In the second half, we were able to start the run game up, get the guys going in the run game and with everything else – downfield blocking, offensive line. Tremendous effort.”

Tom Brady had words of praise for Gordon following their win over the Miami Dolphins.

“He’s doing a great job,” the quarterback  said of Gordon. “We got him late last year into the season — Week 2 — and it’s a lot to pick up. It’s a hard offense to learn. You try to integrate a guy and whether it was Phillip (Dorsett) the year before or Josh or this year with Antonio, it’s a lot for those guys to learn. The more we’re together, like any team, the more comfortable we get.”

Well, we really hope that Gordon will get better, because the Patriots need him for the regular season.
