Julian Edelman Reacts To Gronkowski’s Recent Comments About Retirement

Rob Gronkowski was playing games with everyone, but he decided to put an end to that. The retired tight end put an end to all the rumors about his comeback, and no, he isn’t coming back.

“When I retired, I retired for a reason: because I needed to step away,” the former Patriots tight end said on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show.” “So it would be a no. There it is.”

Julian Edelman was asked about this, and he will definitely welcome his former teammate with open arms.

“Yeah, I don’t know. If he does, hey, that’s awesome. We need it,” Edelman said on “The Greg Hill Show” ahead of the Patriots’ Week 7 game against the New York Jets. “But you’re not really worried about that. You’re worried about the Jets, who you’re playing, your opponent this week and that’s just how it goes.”

Although Gronk was pretty clear about his response, the speculation won’t die in near future. The Patriots can’t play Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo because of their injuries. Ben Watson was re-signed, and Eric Tomlinson was added to provide depth to the tight end position. None of these players will replace Gronk.

Gronkowski is really happy with his current situation. He is now an NFL analyst for FOX Sports, and he has already made his debut.
“Pretty standard Gronk. Thought it was awesome, I think he’s great for TV,” Edelman said of Gronk’s broadcast career. “But (we’re) on to the Jets.”

Tom Brady made a statement about Gronk’s broadcast debut.

“I love that guy,” Brady said during his appearance on “The Greg Hill Show” Monday morning. “I’m so happy that he’s enjoying his time, his life. He seems to really be doing a lot of great things. He knows how I feel about him. I want what’s best for him. He’s the only person that can make those decisions. I don’t lobby for those things.”

According to him, Gronk has different priorities now.

“I have a great relationship with him. He has given actually a hell of a lot to our team already over the course of a long period of time, and I think people should be very appreciative for what he’s brought to the team and what he’s brought to the region. I think he’s a very special guy. He’s just in a different phase of his life.”
