Report: New England Patriots Interested In Acquiring Bengals TE

The New England Patriots got some help on offense before the trade deadline, and that’s not all. The team is ready to pull out another move, and it looks like they are after a Bengals tight end.

Jeff Howe of The Athletic reported that the Patriots have shown interest in trading for Tyler Eifert.

The team traded for Mohamed Sanu from the Atlanta Falcons last week. In the game against the Cleveland Browns, Sanu was able to catch two passes for 23 yards.

The Patriots are undefeated at this point of the season, and they keep winning games despite their players. This doesn’t mean that they won’t add depth to the receiving unit.

The Patriots aren’t the only team that has shown interest in Eifert who is also a former first-round pick.

Eifert has 23 receptions for 192 yards and a touchdown.

The Patriots rely on Benjamin Watson, and they lack depth at tight end. It’s more than obvious that head coach Bill Belichick will try to get a big pass-catcher for his star quarterback.

The New Orleans Saints are also interested in signing Eifert.

Cincinnati is 0-8 and out of playoff contention, they won’t give out their valuable players for future draft picks. But, they will sure hear offers for Eifert in case he’s up for a trade.

When it comes to the newly acquired Sanu, he is happy with his new home.

“You can see why (the Patriots) are the way that they are,” Sanu said. “You can see why they win as much as they do, with how deliberate they are at practice and … the time that the spend on keys and getting guys in the right position at the right time.”

His debut with the Patriots wasn’t really great, but that’s normal because he arrived a few days before the game.

“(Brady) saw the same thing that I saw and was on the same page, and I just made sure I was in the right place at the right time,” Sanu said after the game. “We talked about it earlier in the week. He said, ‘Just be prepared for this in this formation.’ And that was exactly what happened.”
