LeBron On AD: “I don’t even think he’s scratched the surface yet”

LeBron James scored 23 points and eight assists in the game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday at Staples Center. Anthony Davis had a 40-20 night, and LeBron couldn’t hide his excitement.

“I don’t even think he’s scratched the surface yet,” LeBron said. “I think we’re all still getting comfortable with one another. I think he’s still getting comfortable out on the floor. When he’s attacking like that, the guy shoots high in the ’80s-’90s from the free-throw line. That’s easy money for him and is great for our defense as well. It’s great for our team being able to set our game down like that. He was wonderful tonight. Spectacular in all facets, both offensively and defensively.”

Head coach Frank Vogel talked about the Davis and the success of the team following the big win.

“He gutted it out, playing in some pain, and it was dominant,” Vogel said of Davis. “The pressure he puts on the defense with his ability to spin out of lobs, attack the basket with the ball, and then what he’s doing on the glass is spectacular as well. They didn’t have an answer for him tonight, and he was terrific.”

Davis’ great success in the third was preceded by a tenuous moment in the second when he went to the locker room to have his shoulder retaped.

“I was really just trying to figure it all out,” Davis said. “It was bothering me a lot. It was very sore, but I didn’t want to come out of the game. I just came to the back and adjust some things. Felt good to go back out, and I went back out late in the second, felt good, did some more stuff at halftime. Went out in the third. We wanted to actually just test it out in the third, and it felt good. That was that.”

Luckily, there’s nothing to worry about. Davis will keep giving his best, and help the team win the title. That’s good news for everyone supporting the Lakers. Things look good for LeBron and his team. It was about time for the team to take control.
