Injury Update On Lakers’ Anthony Davis’s Thumb Emerges

Things don’t look too good for the Los Angeles Lakers. They were super thrilled to defeat the Golden State Warriors, but the players didn’t have much luck against the Brooklyn Nets. Last season, the team missed the chance to make the NBA playoffs because of all the injuries players had. It looks like the bad luck is still here. Kyle Kuzma is sidelined due to the stress fracture in his foot. Anthony Davis had to leave the Lakers preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets due to a sprained thumb.

Luckily, the injury isn’t too serious, and Davis didn’t suffer any ligament damage. That’s what Shams Charania from The Athletic said.

“Initial exams on Lakers star Anthony Davis’ right thumb showed no ligament damage, believed to be a Grade 1 sprain, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. Davis will undergo an MRI on Sunday.”

Davis was injured in the first half of the game after swatting at the ball. He stayed in the game, but had to leave and didn’t come back. The big man finished the contest with six points on 2-for-7 shooting, three rebounds, two blocks and one steal in his 12 minutes on the floor.

Davis may miss the remaining preseason games. This isn’t really important, because he has to recover on time for the regular season. The regular season opener is scheduled for Oct. 22, and the Lakers are playing Kawhi Leonard’s team.

“Davis showed off his passing skills in this game, something we only saw a bit of in his first contest as a Laker,” Ali Behpoornia wrote. “His assists primarily came from his post ups. AD would often get doubled in the paint, and would dish it out to the open man. Many times that player was Rajon Rondo, who will probably get a ton of open looks this season, so it’s really important for him to knock down those threes and not hesitate when taking them.”

Hopefully, Davis will stay healthy. The same applies to LeBron James. According to Davis, the Lakers will be unstoppable this season, but they have to stay healthy to win the big game.
