Josh Gordon Shares A Message Following Uncertain Patriots Future

The New England Patriots were really excited to have Josh Gordon back following his reinstatement, but it looks like his time with the team will soon be brought to an end. At the moment, Gordon is the eight receiver for a team that needs seven wideouts.

New England decided to place Gordon on injured reserve. He showed up for the warm-up Wednesday, but was listed as a non-participant in the walkthrough practice. Is this somehow related to the arrival of Mohamed Sanu?

It looks like Gordon was surprised by the decision. He commented on an Instagram post, and judging by his comment, he wasn’t aware of the decision New England has made. “Interesting,” he wrote under the post about his landing on IR.

In his Instagram story, Gordon posted a short bible verse.

“God is my strong fortress. He makes my way perfect,” the wide receiver wrote.

Gordon’s finger injury was followed by knee and ankle injuries. He tried to recover a fumble against the New York Giants, but ended up riding a stationary bike and missed practice. Following this development of events, the Patriots ruled him out for the game against the New York Jets on Monday night.

“Gordon, scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March, has amassed 60 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns during his Patriots tenure,” Oliver Thomas wrote. “It is a tenure that’s spanned 17 games after he landed by way of the Cleveland Browns in a swap of fifth- and seventh-round selections last September. And it is a tenure that’s been interrupted by an indefinite suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy from the middle of December until the middle of August.”

Gordon believes he is ready for some action. The Patriots don’t think that way.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported that the two bone bruises in Gordon’s knee are not considered season-ending. A source also told TheMMQB’s Albert Breer that the 6-foot-3, 225-pound wideout clocked 22 miles per hour on the treadmill during a recent rehab session.”

It’s a tricky situation for the receiver. Let’s see what happens next in New England. Are they willing to give up on Gordon?
