Julian Edelman Kickstarts ‘Gameday’ With New Hype Video

The New England Patriots are playing the Washington Redskins Sunday, and Julian Edelman is here to help the team win the game. Need some more good news? Josh Gordon is playing too.

The team removed Gordon from the injury report on Friday. He was a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday due to his knee injury. Edelman was limited in practice this week.

Ben Watson isn’t activated yet, and he won’t play against the Redskins. If the Patriots want him on the field, they have to activate him by Monday.

Running backs Rex Burkhead and Damien Harris, safeties Nate Ebner and Patrick Chung, offensives lineman Korey Cunningham, quarterback Cody Kessler and defensive tackle Bryon Cowart are ruled inactive for the Patriots’ Week 5 contest against the Redskins.

When it comes to Edelman, a great number of experts say that he should have stayed out of the game for some time. His chest injury may not be serious, but Edelman is a key player for the team, and the Pats can’t afford losing him.

Phil Perry believes that the team should sit him down.

“Is there any doubt in anyone’s mind that the Patriots defense is good enough to hold the Redskins, Giants and Jets to 13 points or less the next three weeks? I’m at the point where if the Patriots defense was forced to play 60 minutes against any of these offenses, I’d tell you there would be a good chance it’d out-score them.

“This defense is so good right now that this conversation – should the Patriots bench their best receiver for most of the next month? – might not be as ludicrous as it sounds. The Patriots will need Julian Edelman for the long-haul if they’re going to win another Super Bowl. The Patriots will not need Edelman these next three weeks.

“Easy. Sit him down. But there’s an added benefit to benching Edelman that goes beyond simply getting the 33-year-old healthy. It might force Tom Brady to develop a rapport with some of his younger receivers.”

The Patriots’ offense struggled a lot last week, but they are more confident this time.
