Julian Edelman Reacts To Unhappy Josh Gordon Situation

Nobody thought that Josh Gordon will leave the New England Patriots two months after being reinstated. Well, the Pats decided to put Gordon on injured reserve which means that they will waive him after he recovers completely. Julian Edelman talked about Gordon on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show,” and didn’t say much about him being released.

Edelman didn’t fail to mention that IR can be really exhausting for a player.

“Yeah, it’s definitely tough,” Edelman said. “I have been in that situation where you’re put on IR. It is terrible for a guy just because you don’t get to play football with the team this year. I feel for him. It’s an unfortunate situation that he had to be put on IR. Now, we’ve got to worry about that guys who are in the room. That is part of football. That is the crappy part about football, that these types of things happen. Being able to compartmentalize and focus about what you have on your plate right now. The task at hand right now is the Cleveland Browns. That is part of this game.

“I wish him the best. I hope all his rehab and everything goes well. I told him if you need anything I am here. Now, I am focusing on the Cleveland Browns.”

Edelman was among the many players who wanted Gordon back with the team this summer. Gordon’s suspension was lifted in August, and Edelman wanted to play with him because he balls.

“It’s a life situation and you’re pulling for him for that — to get better,” Edelman said. “And selfishly, I want him because he’s a really good football player and he can help us. I don’t know anything (regarding when/if he could get reinstated) going into it. Like, legit. Like, I’ve asked 30 people inside the organization and outside (the organization), like, ‘Do you know what’s going to happen?’ And no one knows not one thing. So we’re just kind of sitting and waiting to see what the circumstances are going to be with him because he’d be a really good tool to have. He balls.”

The Patriots will have to rely on Edelman, Mohamed Sanu, Phillip Dorsett, Jakobi Meyers, Gunner Olszewski and Matthew Slater.
