LeBron Reflects On Unsuccessful Tyronn Lue Negotiations To Become Lakers Head Coach

The Los Angeles Lakers missed the playoffs last season, but 2019 is full of events for the team. LeBron James was hurt, and the young Lakers couldn’t confront other teams. Magic Johnson resigned from his position, and Luke Walton was fired. Former Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic head coach Frank Vogel became a head coach for the Lakers. Tyronn Lue was in the talks, but he didn’t really have a chance to coach LeBron James.

Anthony Davis arrived in the team to help LeBron win a title.

Let’s go back to Lue. Everyone thought that Lue will become a head coach. LeBron knows him really well, and the same applies to the Lakers. Lue started his career in Los Angeles, and the Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA Finals with his help.

Lue and the Lakers couldn’t reach an agreement and they decided to hire Vogel. Many thought of LeBron’s opinion on Lue.

“At the end of the day for Jeanie, Rob, and everybody upstairs, I was in support of whatever move they were making.” LeBron said before the team’s 112-102 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

“Like you said, there was a time where it was possibly gonna happen. I was ecstatic about that, I was excited because I know what T-Lue is capable of and what we accomplished in Cleveland. When it didn’t happen, we moved on and we moved on to Coach Vogel. I was excited about that which I still am.”

LeBron likes to work with certain had coaches and he has the power to move a current coach out in favor of the coach he wants. The Lakers moved from head coach Luke Walton.

However, LeBron was really supportive of Vogel since he was hired and he also talked about what he could bring to the table. Lue is on the Clippers coaching staff, and he is a chief rival so things will be really messy this season.

The Lakers lost the season opening game to the Clippers, and LeBron said he owns the team one. Let’s see if he will be able to win the next game.
