Report: Andre Iguodala To Sign With The Lakers

Andre Iguodala was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in the offseason, and he made sure everyone realizes that he doesn’t want to be part of a rebuilding team. Iguodala is looking for another chance at winning a championship before he retires. At the moment, Iguodala was allowed to skip training camp with his team with the idea that the team would sent him away. Well, he is still a Grizzlie, and he is actually waiting to be traded or bought out of his contract which would give him a chance to sign with a different team.

Adrian Wojnarowski reported that if Iguodala were to be bought out of his contract with the Grizzlies, he would decide between Clippers and Lakers. It looks like the former MVP has made a decision upon his next destination.

“It’s the two L.A. teams. It’s the Lakers and it’s the Clippers,” Wojnarwoski said. “If there is a buyout at some point, if Memphis can’t trade him, that’s where that will come down to, those two teams.

“Iguodala is OK with sitting right now. Iguodala’s fine with seeing what the landscape looks like and then jumping in on the season a little later. You’re signing Andre Iguodala or trading for him for the postseason.”

In a recent episode of the Brian Windhorst and the Hoop Collective podcast, ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan talked about the possibility to have Iguodala playing with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

“We know where he’s going, he’s going to the Lakers,” MacMullan said. “I’ve had four different players tell me that, every player I’ve talked to tells me that.”

The Lakers lost the season opener to the Clippers. In other words, they could really use Iguodala’s skills. The team needs depth to win a title, and adding Iguodala or someone like him would improve their chances of doing so.

We don’t really have information about Iguodala’s next step, but the Lakers are definitely considered a favorite destination.

Things will get a little tricky is another team offers the Lakers a good trade for Iguodala. They won’t reject it. Let’s see what happens next.
