Report: New England Patriots Trade Michael Bennett To Cowboys

The New England Patriots decided to trade defensive end Michael Bennett to the Dallas Cowboys for a draft pick Thursday as confirmed by league sources. New England opened up $2 million worth of cap space and got an unhappy player out of the locker room. This will give them a “seventh-round pick that can go to a sixth-round pick in 2021.”

Bennett was suspended after getting into an issue with Patriots defensive line coach Bret Bielema. Bennett talked about the suspension, and was unhappy about it. Well, this trade isn’t really a surprise for us.

“It seems like everybody already made their opinions about it, so … It’s America. You can voice your opinion about how you feel about certain situations. That’s what I did.”

When asked about his takeaway from the suspension, Bennett said he didn’t take away anything. He said, “I didn’t take away nothing. I got suspended, lost money. What am I supposed to take away from that? There’s no love lost, it’s just how it is.”

He also received questions about his mindset and the future.

“Just be myself. You can’t really bite your tongue. Nobody else bites your tongue in the league. Everybody says how they feel. Just say how I feel and move on from it. We’re just all human. We all go through our own situations. You can have conversations and move on from it, and that’s how I feel about it.”

Bennett liked his stay in New England, but he’d accept whatever decision the team is wiling to make. “That’s up to them. That’s up to the team and how they feel about it. I like playing here.”
According to Bennett, the Patriots asked him to play differently, and it was quite an adjustment for him.

“It’s always an adjustment when you’re not playing, just getting used to it. But we’re winning, and that’s the most important thing for me as a teammate. But I think as an individual, you always want to play more and make some more plays. So it’s always that great balance between both.”

We won’t be seeing Bennett wearing a Patriots uniform.
