Report: Patriots Work Out Two Kickers, Including YouTube Sensation

The New England Patriots lost Antonio Brown a couple weeks ago, and Stephen Gostkowski will miss the rest of the 2019 season due to his hip issue. The Patriots won the first four games of the regular season, but we have to admit, the offense struggled against the Buffalo Bills. Head coach Bill Belichick and his players are getting ready for the Washington Redskins, but they have to find a replacement for Gostkowski first. New kickers maybe?

In an effort to replace the injured player, the Pats brought Younghoe Koo and Josh Gable in for workouts. The information was confirmed by multiple sources.

Koo comes from South Korea, but he joined the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He played four games with the team after missing three of his first six field-goal attempts. Koo hasn’t kicked in the league since, and he was also playing for the Atlanta Legends in the Alliance of American Football.

The 25-year-old was 14-for-14 on his field goal attempts in the AAF, but he didn’t kick longer than 40 yards. Koo was one of the many kickers who tried their chance with the Chicago Bears this offseason, but the team decided not to sign him.

Gable isn’t a popular name in the NFL. He is a former professional soccer player who ran on the fields in Italy and Belgium. He has been a kicker for the Nebraska Danger, Iowa Barnstormers and Tuscon Sugar Skulls of the Indoor Football League. Gable was also part of the Your Call Football experiment, and was active in The Spring League, but was never signed by a NFL team.

Gable hasn’t played football in college, but tried his chance with the Patriots in 2017. We all know him as the guy with crazy trick kicks from YouTube.

The Patriots tried out Kai Forbath, Mike Nugent, Elliott Fry, Blair Walsh and Matthew Wright on Wednesday. They are off to Washington on Sunday. Will they keep the winning streak? It will be a big game for the team, and hopefully, coach Belichick has a winning plan for the upcoming match against the Redskins.
