Robert Kraft Says That Rob Gronkowski Hasn’t Filed His Retirement Papers Yet

The New England Patriots are playing the New York Jets on Oct. 21, and there’re still people who say that Rob Gronkowski will return to the field. Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed that Gronk hasn’t filed his retirement papers yet.

“We all love Gronk and I think the bottom line is, he hasn’t put his retirement papers in, “Kraft said during an appearance on the NFL Network pregame show.  “We can pray and hope. … I think that’s a good academic argument that there is hope with Gronk.”

These comments got people confused. Gronk heard about it, and responded to the Patriots owner.

“I’d have to be feeling it big time to comeback, it’s always going to be open in my mind,” Gronkowski said following Kraft’s comments during his Fox debut. “I love the game of football, I love playing the game, I love being around the game. I even love watching the game … I’ll always keep the door open.”

Gronk announced his partnership with CBDMEDIC, and used the opportunity to say that he may return. But, he has to feel it first.

“Maybe down the road. I have to have that passion. I have to have that fire,” he said in late August. “I’m not going to go out there and be beat the F up. That’s not the way to live.”

Gronk was loud and clear with his statement. His press conference was enough for fans to realize that he won’t return in near future.

“I want to be clear to my fans,” he said. at the time “I needed to recover. I was not in a good place. Football was bringing me down and I didn’t like it. I was losing that joy in life … I really was and I was fighting through it. I knew what i signed up for, I knew what I was fighting through and I knew I just had to fix myself. I needed to walk away cause I needed to do what was best for myself at that moment. I truly needed to be selfish for once in my life and walk away.”
