Sam Darnold Says He’s ‘Seeing Ghosts’ Against Patriots, Twitter Goes Nuts

The New England Patriots have the strongest defense in the NFL, and Sam Darnold knows it best.

Darnold missed the first game in Week 4 when New England smashed the New York Jets in Foxboro. Experts discussed the revamped Jets and their win over the Dallas Cowboys. Well, this went down the hill. The Jets may be strong and revitalized, but they have zero chance against Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the rest of the guys.

The Patriots had a hot start of the game, and took a 24-0 lead in the half. Darnold was 6-for-13 in the first half for 34 yards and two interceptions.

ESPN caught a hilarious moment of the quarterback, and Twitter users went crazy.

The quarterback knows what it takes to win a championship. The Patriots won six Lombardi Trophies in the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era. Are they ready for their seventh win? You can bet they are.

“I’m just going to go out and do my best,” the quarterback said when asked about finally surpassing the Patriots. “I feel like literally in my lifetime, the Patriots have ended up on top. So, I’m just going to go out there and do my job. I’m never counting anyone out, honestly. Not just the Patriots, but every team that we play in the league.”

Since Darnold’s arrival on planet Earth, New England has won 17 division titles, and 10 straight. From 2001 to present, the Patriots won 16 of a possible 17 AFC East titles. Great numbers, right? They finished second the other two times and didn’t have a record worse than 9-7 (2002) since coach Belichick had his first season with the team in 2000.

“I’m just going to go out there every single game and every single snap, do my job, and play to the best of my ability,” Darnold said. “I know it sounds clichéd, but it’s true. You got to do it. Every single play here in the NFL. And if you don’t, you’re going to get beat.”

Well, the Jets can only pray for a win. New England is unstoppable at the moment. Game on, Pats!
