Still On Top: LeBron Ranks As Highest-Paid NBA Athlete

LeBron James is the highest-paid NBA player for the sixth year straight as confirmed by Forbes. The four-time NBA MVP and three-time NBA Finals MVP is in the center of all events, especially if you take into consideration the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers will try to become contenders this season.

“The list compiled by the magazine reveals that LeBron raked in some $92.4 million during the last year, which is a “record haul for an active basketball player,” with the runner-up, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, earning $85.2 million.”

According to the magazine, most of the king’s earnings came from his endorsement deals including his deal with Nike, Rimowa Luggage, Walmart, Coca-Cola, Beats By Dre, Blaze Pizza and NBA 2K.

“The basketballer also owns a digital media company called Uninterrupted and a production firm, SpringHill Entertainment, which is expected to release “a sequel to the 1996 Michael Jordan vehicle ‘Space Jam’ in conjunction with Warner Bros” in 2021.”

LeBron was hit with an unhealthy dose of criticism for his opinion of Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey and his support for Hong Kong protesters. The whole thing attracted the attention of the creators of “South Park,” and they made a dig at the Lakers star in one of the most recent episodes.

“Obviously, it’s a tough situation that we’re all in right now… I think when an issue comes up, if you feel passionate about it or you feel like it’s something you want to talk about, then so be it,” he said. “I also don’t think that every issue should be everybody’s problem as well.”

LeBron’s comments got everyone talking, and let’s just say that some people don’t like the idea of him calling Morey “uneducated.”

“We all talk about this freedom of speech. Yes, we all do have freedom of speech, but at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you’re not thinking about others and you’re only thinking about yourself,” LeBron said.

“I don’t want to get into a word or sentence feud with Daryl Morey but I believe he wasn’t educated on the situation at hand, and he spoke. And, so many people could have been harmed, not only financially but physically, emotionally, spiritually. So, just be careful what we tweet and what we say, and what we do. Even though yes, we do have freedom of speech, but there can be a lot of negative that comes with that too.”
