Watch: JaVale McGee Says He’s Actually Hurt After Apparently Faking Injury In Lakers-Warriors Game

JaVale McGee plays a really good ball, and faking an injury was part of the game that helped him pull out a good dunk.

In the third quarter of the Golden State Warriors’ 126-93 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center, McGee was limping and grabbing his left knee, and three seconds later, everyone realized that he was faking it.

McGee went from faking an injury to catching a pass from Anthony Davis and throwing down a dunk. He had a really good laugh at his former teammates.

After chuckling about the play, McGee told media members, “I hit my knee, I really hit my knee. And it hurt. I went out of bounds and I saw Draymond guarding AD and I was like, forget the pain, I’m gonna go get these buckets. So I ran back in and got a dunk. But I really did bump my knee.”

LeBron James has great plans for McGee, Rajon Rondo and the rest of the team.

“Defensively is where we set our mark, and then everything else kind of falls into place. We have a great defensive lineup to start the game,” LeBron said. “We have guys that complement each other on the offensive end. It’s my job to put guys in a position to push the pace and get guys open looks. Get AD the ball where he wants it, and then find my shooters like AB and DG. It worked well for us tonight.”

LeBron was the one who lobbied for McGee’s role in Los Angeles.

I played against him in the last two NBA Finals and I wanted him on this team because I know what he brings,” King James said. “It’s his energy, his energy level, his ability at the rim and his ability to protect the rim. If you don’t have that on your team, you’re not going to have much, man. You need to have people with a high IQ, which he’s got. That’s why I wanted JaVale to be part of this. It is no longer a secret that the king lobbied the Lakers to get the champion.”
