Julian Edelman Reacts To Concerns About Patriots’ Offense

Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman can’t ignore the concerns about the team’s offense. Truth is, the offense struggles a lot, and the defense has to make up for the damage.

“Everyone thinks we’re in a huge panic over here,” the wide receiver said Friday.

Edelman doesn’t really understand why there’s such a speculation surrounding the offense and its production. Yes, there are some frustrations and inconsistent stretches, mostly because of the changes made to the roster, but the wide receiver doesn’t see the struggles as a reason to be worried.

“That’s just football,” he said. “We’ve made plays when we’ve had to. Obviously, we’re not where we want to be, but I think that’s everyone in the league right now at this time of year. If you’re clicking on all cylinders right now, it’s tough to hold that.”

The offensive struggles were masked by the best offense in the NFL and the 8-0 record at this point of the regular season. The Patriots lead the league in points per game (31.3) and have less than 27 points on only one occasion.

Antonio Brown is gone. Demaryius Thomas and Josh Gordon are also out of the team. Rookie Jakobi Meyers and Mohamed Sanu are newly acquired players, and rookie N’Keal Harry was added to the 53-man roster Saturday. Harry will make his Patriots debut after being placed on injured reserve.

Edelman is positive about the offense

If he plays with the team, Harry may add energy to the group.

“He’s a young guy,” Edelman said of the Pats’ first-round pick last spring. “He’s got a lot of ground to make up. The game’s going to be completely different than practice. He’s got a good attitude and he works hard. I’m looking forward to seeing him out there.”

Edelman and Phillip Dorsett lead the team in receiving touchdowns with four pieces. They were injured this season. Dorsett was sidelined due to a hamstring injury, and Edelman was limited due to his chest injury.

The wide receiver is well aware that the Baltimore Ravens are the hardest team they will play this season.

“If you like football, this is a game to watch,” he said.
