LeBron James Calls Dwight Howard ‘Animal’ After Big Performance vs. Spurs

The Los Angeles Lakers added Dwight Howard to their roster in August. The team didn’t have high expectations for him this summer. But, his game against the Hornets was excellent, and he is still considered a valuable player in the NBA.

In that game, Howard had 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in 22 minutes. He was all about winning the game. No joking, no complaints. Clean shots and great points. When he scored his first points of the night off a lob pass from Danny Green, LA fans were really happy for the talented player.

Six games into the 2019-20 season, Howard is still good. LeBron had words of praise for his talented teammate.

In the game against the San Antonio Spurs, Howard had 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Dwight Howard in the mix

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel had words of praise for Howard’s performance.

“He was off the charts,” Vogel said a few weeks ago. “He was a star in his role tonight, and that’s what we’re asking him to be. Not the superstar he was the first time around, but to be a role player and to be a star in the role, and tonight he was.”

Vogel is pleased to have LeBron, Anthony Davis and Dwight on the roster. He is really grateful that Rob Pelinka created such a wonderful team.

“Getting them to play together and to come together quite frankly… not just to play together. But I love the way the team has been put together by Rob Pelinka. I really do. Obviously, it starts with the two pillars in Anthony and LeBron… just two of the game’s best. And then the surrounding parts… that’s what I’m equally as excited about. You want to put as many shooters around those guys as you can and we have an army of shooters. You want to put lengthy defenders around those guys to make sure that you got a great defense and we have JaVale, Dwight, and obviously AD can do that as well. And then you want to have perimeter defenders, so we have a lot of versatility. I think we have the parts that fit and it’s really going to be about whether we come together and how quickly we come together.”
