Report: Patriots Signing Colin Kaepernick Would Actually Make a Lot of Sense

Colin Kaepernick and his private workout in Atlanta have attracted the attention of pretty much everyone in the NFL. The quarterback will hold a workout for all interested teams. The New England Patriots are also sending their representative. Head coach Bill Belichick isn’t going, because he will be traveling to Philadelphia for the game against the Eagles. Nick Caserio won’t go either, because he will go with the team.

Fans have starting to talk about the possibility to see Kaepernick wear a Patriots uniform. If the defending Super Bowl champions are interested in acquiring the free-agent, it will sure make a sense for them to make such a move.

Take into consideration that Kaepernick’s days as a full-time starting quarterback are gone. But, he is a talented player, and could easily be used as a No. 2 guy in a league in which backups need to be ready for a real game at any point of the season.

A 16-game regular season has a big effect on players’ bodies. It takes a great toll on old players, and we all know that Brady turned 42 in August. Things can get really rough in the NFL, and Brady may be injured at any point of the season.

Colin Kaepernick may be a bridge quarterback

Cody Kessler may enter the game for the Patriots. Kessler’s history helps us realize a lot of things. He can’t lead a team to a win, regardless if Belichick coaches him.

Fourth-round rookie Jarrett Stidham isn’t ready to start for the Patriots, too. Kaepernick has been to a championship, and he would definitely serve as a quarterback in this situation. Kaepernick won’t be the future of the team, but he could give Stidham a lot of time to go through Belichick’s playbook.

Kaepernick can give the Patriots an adequate contingency plan for the future. The Patriots have tried other overlooked players over the years. They played Antonio Brown, Josh Gordon and many others. So, there’s a really big chance for us to see Kaepernick in New England. Let’s see what happens in the next few weeks. Patriots players really hope to see Kaepernick back in the league.
