Watch: LeBron Daps Up Kobe Bryant Reconnects with DH In Rare Staples Center Appearance

Lakers legend Kobe Bryant had his first visit to Staples Center in a while, and he decided to attend the game between his former team and the Atlanta Hawks. This was a rare post-retirement outing at the arena in which Bryant played most of his NBA career. He was on hand to watch his former team defeat the Hawks 122-101 and even had some fun with the team.

Bryant was sitting courtside, and he had a brief moment with superstar LeBron James in the first quarter. This meeting preceded a 3-pointer from the king to put the team up 24-5.

LeBron finished the game with 33 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds and no turnovers. He finished +30 in a game where no player scored the 20s.

Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard are good

The most surprising moment of the match was probably the amicable exchange with Dwight Howard who acts like a new player in his second tenure with the team. remember the friction between Bryant and Howard during and after their first stint? Well, they have put the bad thoughts behind.

It’s interesting to note that Howard didn’t even know who it was, and Bryant just slapped him on the neck. Howard was getting ready to elbow him, but Bryant just told him that he was playing good. At the end of the day, Howard was glad to see Bryant on the floor.

“I didn’t even know who it was,” Howard said after the game, per USA Today’s Mark Medina. “He slapped me on the neck and I was about to elbow him. Then he said, ‘What’s up, man. You’re playing good.’ It was cool, man. I was glad he came to the game.”

We don’t really see Bryant at Staples Center these days. Well, he is a busy man, and has so many things on his mind. In October, Bryant had an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

The Black Mamba said he has a life and a routine at home. He likes attending Lakers games, but he’d rather give B.B. a shower and sing Barney songs to the girl. Bryant was playing 20 years, and he used to miss his moments on the floor. Visiting Staples Center means he missed a chance to spend a night with the kids at home. children grow really fast, and Bryant would travel only if he has to be somewhere. The legend would rather be with his kids at home.

“I have a life and I have my routine at home,” Bryant said. “It’s not that I don’t want to go [to Lakers games], but I’d rather be giving B.B. a shower and sing Barney songs to her. I played 20 years and I missed those moments before. For me to make the trip up to Staples Center, that means I’m missing an opportunity to spend another night with my kids when I know how fast it goes. … I want to make sure the days that I’m away from them are days that I absolutely have to be. I’d rather be with them than doing anything else.”
