Julian Edelman Reacts To Costly Fumble In Patriots’ Loss vs. Ravens

The New England Patriots made a few huge mistakes in the game against second-year signal-caller Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. It was a nasty 37-20 loss to the Ravens, and Julian Edelman’s fumble in the third quarter of the game was returned for a score.

Tom Brady and Edelman connected, but the receiver struggled through a tackle trying to add more yards. The ball was released, and it ended up in the hands of Ravens defensive back Marlon Humphrey. He scored a touchdown, and increased the Ravens’ lead to 24-13. The fumble occurred at the wrong time.

“You just got to move on,” Edelman told media members when asked about his fumble. “Put us in a hole. You can’t turn the ball over against a team like that, when they can hold the ball that long. Feel like I let my team down, but you gotta move on. It  just wasn’t our day. You gotta tip your hat to the Baltimore Ravens. They played a good game.

“It’s definitely different to play from behind,” Edelman added. “You don’t want to play from behind against a team like this. That’s what they live off off, they thrive off of. We didn’t play the game we wanted to. Like I said, you gotta tip your hat. Baltimore played a good game. They outplayed us.”

Aside from this fumble, Edelman’s game was excellent. He had 10 receptions for a team-high 89 yards on 11 targets. The Super Bowl LIII MVP averages 8.4 receptions for 87.4 yards and three touchdowns in the last five games.

The Patriots will have enough time fix the damage they caused in the game. They have a Week 10 bye which is followed by a tough schedule. TB12 and Co. will play the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs.

Edelman is pretty confident the team will learn their mistakes.

“We can go two ways from here,” Edelman said. “You either learn from it and get better and move on, or you can go the other way. I have faith that we’re going to learn from it, get back to where we need to be and go on from there.”
