Patriots’ Mohamed Sanu Gives His Take On Gronk’s Possible Return

The New England Patriots still hope to have Rob Gronkowski back on the field. There’s a growing speculation about his return, and Mohamed Sanu gave his thoughts on this possibility.

Sanu is the newest offensive weapon the Patriots acquired. He said he would love to play alongside Gronk.

“If he does, I would love it,” the receiver said. “Believe that. If he does, I would love it. Just got to go about it day by day and just do my part. Come, man, come.”

Gronkowski decided to retire following the Super Bowl LIII win. The Patriots have struggled to find someone to match Gronk’s power and skills. Ben Watson, Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo joined forces for 17 catches on 26 targets for 241 yards and one touchdowns in nine games. Well, New England sure missed Gronk’s power in the running game.

Bringing Gronk back on the field would be like a dream come true for the Patriots. However, Gronk keeps saying that he enjoys his retirement. In other words, he has no plans to play in 2019.

This got us confused, because Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed that Gronk has yet to sign his retirement papers. Kraft and Gronk discussed his potential reinstatement, and there’s still a possibility to bring Gronk back for the playoffs.

If the big Gronk plans to return, he will have to do that really soon. The NFL obliges players to make decision by No. 30. Gronk would be ineligible to play in 2019 if head coach Bill Belichick doesn’t add Gronk to the 53-man roster by the end of November.

The Patriots rely on Watson, LaCosse and Izzo at the moment. They need depth at tight end.

The receiving unit is comprised of Julian Edelman, Sanu, Phillip Dorsett, Jakobi Meyers, Gunner Olszewski and N’Keal Harry.

Harry was activated recently, and he is expected to play against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The only game New England lost was the one they played against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. It will be a long season, and hopefully, they won’t have too many losses. I mean, they are the defending champions after all. Tom Brady is still here, and he won’t go anywhere in near future.

Let’s see how will the Patriots handle the next few games and their tough opponents. The NFL is full of surprises.
