Tom Brady Unveils Supposedly ‘Polite’ Nature Of Intentional Penalty Argument

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady doesn’t really like when things take the wrong turn, especially when it comes to a nasty penalty. But, he is trying to be polite.

That’s exactly what happened in the game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Patriots couldn’t handle the Ravens’ heavy offense, and lost the game. The Pats also struggled with penalties. Most of these were self-induced, but Brady was unhappy with one particular call. He thought that the offense would take advantage of an illegal contact penalty, but officials called an intentional grounding infraction on Brady. The penalty didn’t sit well with the GOAT, and he tried to work things out. He was polite though.

“(Phillip Dorsett has) got a choice to go either way. You know, he ran down there and the (defensive) guy drilled him at 8 yards,” Brady said. “So I said, ‘Isn’t that illegal contact?’ And he’s like, ‘Well, no.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m sorry, sir. I don’t know what you’re looking at.’ Or something like that.

“It was very polite. It was like, ‘Excuse me, Mister, I thought there might have possibly been a penalty, actually by them.’ Which when I looked at the film — I don’t know. I thought they jammed him pretty good.”

It was a terrible loss, but that’s how things roll in the NFL.

“Sometimes you get ’em, sometimes you don’t. That was a fun one,” he said Monday morning. “That was a fun one.”

Being polite may not work with a penalty

During the post-game press conference, the quarterback praised his opponents.

“I give them a lot of credit. They played a good game. They made a lot of plays offensively and defensively. We just didn’t match them. When you’re on the road, you’ve got to play well in all three phases. Offensively, we didn’t do a good enough job; too many missed opportunities.”

The Pats have a week off, and they will have to improve themselves for the next few games.

“Losses always find a way to recalibrate how you see yourself,” TB12 said. “We obviously have a lot of work to do. Tonight, obviously was not good enough. When you get beat by 17 points, that’s not what we’re all about. Give the Ravens credit, they played really well. They took advantage of their opportunities, and that’s what it takes.”
