Frank Vogel Has Won Over His Players, Including LeBron

Frank Vogel became a head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, and let’s just say that his arrival came like a surprise. Many thought that Ty Lue would coach LeBron James and his teammates. Vogel’s hiring was followed by a wave of speculations. Well, Vogel is here, and he is doing a really good job with the team. Fans were concerned about his coaching abilities, but these concerns disappeared when the regular season started.

On Monday, Vogel was named the Western Conference coach of the month for his incredible performance in October and November. It was the first time since Mike D’Antoni in 2013 that a Lakers coach achieved this success. The Lakers were 17-2 in that period, and this is the team’s best record through 19 games. Let’s just say that Vogel earned the support from LeBron, Anthony Davis and the rest of the players.

“Yessir coach Frank the Tank,” King James posted on Twitter after the NBA announced the award.

LeBron’s relationship with his coaches has been a subject of discussion in his professional career. When LeBron arrived in Los Angeles, their relationship imposed a serious concern. The Lakers struggled under Luke Walton, and there were so many reports suggesting that LeBron wants him out of the organization.

The Lakers tried really hard to find a replacement for Walton. Vogel wasn’t included in their first round of interviews. Lue and Monty Williams were finalists. LeBron is really close to Lue. Some analysts weren’t happy with Jason Kidd’s presence.

Vogel’s introductory news conference was hijacked because it was the first time since former president of basketball operations Magic Johnson stepped down that any member of the Lakers’ front office had discussed the state of the team.

Lue is now working with Doc Rivers, and LeBron talked about the onetime possibility that Lue would coach him again.

“At the end of the day for Jeanie and Rob and everybody upstairs, I was just supportive of whatever moves that they were making,” LeBron said, referring to owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka. “There was a time where it was possibly going to happen, I was ecstatic about that. I was excited because I know what T-Lue is capable of and what we accomplished in Cleveland. When it didn’t happen, we moved on and we moved on to Coach Vogel and I was excited about that, which I still am.”

LeBron praises his coach all the time, and he agrees with his decisions. Vogel likes to keep LeBron fresh for the playoffs, and the king respects that.
