Bill Belichick Reacts To 27-24 Loss To Miami Dolphins

Nobody thought that the New England Patriots would lose the regular-season finale to the Miami Dolphins. They had already defeated Miami earlier in the season. Things went up and down for the Super Bowl champions, but they lost the game. It was a shocking loss for TB12 and the team. This loss cost the Patriots a first-round playoff bye.

“Obviously not too much to say,” head coach Bill Belichick said. “Obviously we didn’t do anything well enough today to deserve to win, so we play next week, and we’ll see who that is. We still have opportunity in front of us here. We needed our best football, and didn’t have it today, but hopefully it’ll be there next week.”

After taking the lead in the fourth quarter, the Patriots looked ready to snatch another win and a playoff bye. However, the defense couldn’t hold Miami out of the end zone, surrendering 13-play, 75-yard touchdown drive with just 24 seconds left of the game.

Well, Belichick was satisfied with the game of his guys.

“Look, they’ve done a good job,” he added. “I think we all know what they’ve done offensively the last six weeks or so of the season.”

When asked about the final play, Belichick said, “It’s our last play. So we’re trying to find a way to score.”

New England decided not to take timeouts at the end of the first half. They got the ball back with 57 seconds remaining and ran with Sony Michel and James White to let the time go.

“We’d have done that if we’d got a first down,” the head coach said of his decision to not call timeout.

Will Brady play again? What about his health? Belichick said it didn’t affect the play.

“No, he practiced all week. I mean you’d have to ask him that,” said Belichick. He added that it “didn’t affect the play-calling though, no.”

Every loss is a motivation for the Patriots. They will have to go the other way round. This is a big loss for the Patriots, but they can definitely get away with another trophy.
