Experts Made Their Prediction For Patriots Vs. Chiefs Matchup

The New England Patriots are playing a home game against the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s an unpredictable game, but NFL experts tried to make a prediction about the outcome of this match.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Kansas City will try to get revenge for last season’s AFC Championship Game loss. The Patriots ran for 176 yards in that match and rushed for 173 yards against the team in the 2018 regular-season game. Tom Brady’s team may lean again toward more of a ground-based game. The Chiefs have a completely different defense under first-year coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Pats would clinch a playoff berth with a win, while Kansas City can lock up the AFC West with a big win and an expected Raiders loss.

“After running for 176 yards in last season’s AFC Championship Game against the Chiefs, which came after rushing for 173 yards against them in the 2018 regular season, the Patriots could lean again toward more of a ground-based approach — even though the Chiefs have a completely different defensive scheme under first-year coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. The Pats would clinch a playoff berth with a win, while the Chiefs can lock up the AFC West with a win and a Raiders loss.”

A bold prediction for the Patriots

Gregg Rosenthal predicts a tight game for both teams. The Chiefs’ pass defense will give the Patriots a hard time to move around. Their passing attack is still vulnerable. Patrick Mahomes suffered an injury. An unexpected loss for New England would bring a 0-3 record against AFC division leaders, all supported by young mobile quarterbacks. Brady has a better chance to win this match because head coach Bill Belichick built the strongest defense in the NFL. He created the defense to defeat this Chiefs team in this game.

“It’s disarming how much this matchup has changed since the AFC Championship Game in January. The Chiefs now have a pass defense for the Patriots to worry about, while K.C.’s passing attack has looked vulnerable and disjointed since Patrick Mahomes returned from injury, more reliant on individual magic than ever. A Patriots win would all but guarantee their 10th straight playoff bye. A Patriots loss would signal an 0-3 record against AFC division leaders, all led by young mobile quarterbacks, a changing-of-the-guard narrative so on-the-nose it seems scripted.

“I give New England a slight edge at home because Bill Belichick built the defense of his dreams specifically to slow this Chiefs team, in this game. (And the next time they play.) Look for the Patriots’ steadily-improving running game to be the difference. An ugly game favors the home team with the more precise coach, just like it did for Belichick back in the early 2000s, when Andy Reid’s teams were also often falling just short.”

Pete Prisco from CBS Sports also believes that this will be a fun rematch of the AFC Championship Game. The Patriots still struggle on the offense, but that won’t be the biggest problem in this game. According to Prisco, Brady is expected to outplay Patrick Mahomes as New England wins another important match.

Mike Florio votes for New England. Writing off Brady and Belichick is never a smart idea, and Florio actually warned all the doubters out there.

The Patriots will try to play more aggressive, and they need to solve the problem with their receivers. They have changed this unit on so many occasions, and players can’t follow the pattern. Let’s see what happens on Sunday. Will Belichick outsmart his opponent? The Patriots are playing without two players and six are ruled questionable for the match. Game on, Pats!
