Julian Edelman Gives His Take On Tom Brady’s Sideline Message

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had something to say to his wideouts during Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. His sideline message has been making headlines for a few days. Lip readers tried to unpack Brady’s message, but most fans downplayed the incident as TB12 revealed that he just got caught in the heat of the moment.

Wideout Julian Edelman echoed the sideline message Friday on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” when asked about the moment.

According to Edelman, Brady was just caught in the heat of the moment. He is well aware of the fact that things like this are common in battles. Of course, Edelman isn’t trying to compare this to a real battle, but he tried to make things clearer for his fans. Emotions go really high during games, and players tend not to take anything personally. This is pretty common in the world of football.

“I hate saying this and I hate comparing it to the real deal of battle, because men and women that serve our country, that is the real war and all that stuff, but in the heat of battle, things happen,” Edelman said, via WEEI.com. “People say things, people do things because the emotion levels are so high and you can’t take anything personally. That’s football. I think, especially nowadays, it’s such a different type of generation where it’s almost like you can’t get MF’d anymore.”

Brady likes to deliver a sideline message

Edelman also recalled the first day he got in Foxboro. He was running a route during OTAs and dropped a ball. What happened next? Brady yelled at him. Edelman was 22 at that point, and he was well aware of the power Tom Brady has in the NFL. Yes, there are no hard feelings, and most guys know that.

“The first day I got here, I remember I ran a route during OTAs, dropped a ball, and I had Tom yelling at me and I am literally 22 years old, been watching this guy win Super Bowls, crapping my pants, thinking like, ‘Oh my God.’ It is just one of those things you have to deal with. There’s no hard feelings, it’s just football. I think a lot of guys know that most guys know that. He’s played enough football where he sees things a certain way and if he feels like he has to get a fire going under someone’s butt, that is what you have to do. That’s football.”

Brady has played a lot of football, and he knows pretty much everything about the game. If he gets mad during practices or games, he has every right to feel that way. Edelman knows this and the rest of the players know that, too.

We are talking about real football here. When it comes to real football, Edelman, Brady and the Patriots are playing the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. They are coming out of a loss, and being defeated by the Houston Texans isn’t the best scenario coach Belichick hopes for. He wants the team to win, but also know that the guys are trying really hard. Brady knows that, too. He just wants the offense to be more productive and score more points. Will they play better on Sunday? The Kansas City Chiefs are great, and coach Belichick will need to get his players ready.
