Report: Patriots Work Out CFL All-Star Running Back, Cornerback

The New England Patriots are always in when it comes to making changes to the roster. The team is already planning their future, and their eyes are north of the border. New England worked out free-agent CFL running back William Stanback and cornerback Marcus Sayles as confirmed by ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported.

Stanback is 6-feet, 233 pounds, and played collegiately at UCF and Virginia Union. He went undrafted in 2017 and spent training camp with the Green Bay Packers. Stanback played the last two years with the Montreal Alouettes. He was able to carry the ball 170 times for 1,048 yards with five touchdowns and caught 33 passes for 329 yards this season. Stanback was named a CFL and CFL East All-Star in 2019.

The great player ran a 4.55-second 40-yard dash with a 6.9-second 3-cone drill in 2017.

Sayles was undrafted out of West Georgia in 2017. He is 5-foot-9, 176-pound and spent some time with the Buffalo Bills and Los Angles Rams in the 2017 season. Sayles spent the last two years with the Toronto Argonauts. The player was named a CFL West All-Star in 2019.

Sayles ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash with a 40-inch vertical leap, 11-feet broad jump, 4.06-second short shuttle and 6.56-second 3-cone in 2017.

New England won’t be able to add either of these players for the 2019 season. They have two games remaining of the regular season. The Buffalo Bills are next on their list, and the Miami Dolphins come at the end of the regular season.

Head coach Bill Belichick has a plan for the next two weeks. His plans didn’t really work earlier this season, and the Patriots struggled to defeat the Bills. However, it was a good win, and the Miami Dolphins come as an easy bite.

This wasn’t the best season New England has ever had. They made a lot of mistakes throughout the regular season, but have 11 wins so far. Will New England finish the season with a win? Let’s wait and find out. How will the Patriots handle the remainder of the season? We do hope for a win.
