Attorney Made Decision On Patriots’ Patrick Chung’s Drug Possession Charges

Patriots safety Patrick Chung found himself in a big problem. He was facing drug possession charges, and attorneys have made a decision on his case.

Belknap County Attorney Andrew Livernois confirmed that the drug possession charges against Chung have been conditionally dismissed.

The criminal charges against the Patriots safety will be dropped under the following conditions:

  • Chung must remain of good behavior for two years and not commit any crimes (felony or misdemeanor) or major motor vehicle offenses.
  • Will be subject to drug tests once a month for the first year, and every 90 days after that for the balance of the two-year period. Chung has agreed to provide the State with copies of the results and will sign a waiver for the State to directly communicate with the laboratory to confirm the results.
  • Chung must perform 40 hours of community service that will be connected to drug abuse prevention and education. That will be completed within the next 18 months and at least 20 hours of that community service will be done in New Hampshire.
  • If he fails to comply with any of these requirements, the State has the right to reinstate the charges in this case and prosecute him at that time.

Livernois noted in his statement that the conditional dismissal was allowed because the Patriots safety doesn’t have any prior criminal record. He hasn’t been involved with the criminal justice system. Chung also cooperated fully with police officers, and they found a small amount of drugs. Chung also proved that he has “voluntarily undergone a full substance abuse evaluation.” According to the results, the Patriots safety does not need any treatment.

Chung was charged with possession of cocaine at his Meredith home in New Hampshire. The safety was indicted by a grand jury, and he pleaded not guilty.

Hopefully, this incident won’t affect Chung’s future with the New England Patriots or the NFL in general. The league has strict rules about such cases, and Chung may not get away without punishment. Let’s see what happens in the next couple of months. He is a key player for the Patriots.
