Peter King Identifies ‘Sleeping Giant’ In Tom Brady Free Agency Sweepstakes

Will Patriots quarterback Tom Brady take Jameis Winston’s throne? Peter King says there’s a possibility for the Patriots quarterback to do this. King on Thursday discussed Brady’s free agency decision. He appeared on WEEI’s “Dale & Keefe” show, and made a few cool comments. Brady is set to become a free agent on March 18, and Peter King has identified a sleeping Giant in the Tamba Bay Buccaneers and Brady.

“The one I believe is the sleeping giant in this is Tampa Bay,” King said. “And, when I say that, if Jameis Winston is realistic with what his contract demands are, in my opinion, he’ll be the quarterback of the Bucs next year. But, I don’t know that, I’m hearing some things out of Tampa that he might want a little bit more money than the Bucs wanna pay. And we’ll see if that pans out.”

Peter King, Tom Brady and the sleeping Giant

” … They got a pretty good offensive line, and they’ve got two excellent receivers. They’ve got a really good, young tight end and they’ve got a very imaginative head coach and offensive coordinator in the passing game. So, I can’t tell you absolutely what they would do, or what they’re going to do. But I can tell you that they’re fascinating, to me. …When I think about Tampa Bay and Tom Brady, it makes as much sense to me as any of these other teams out here with the possible exception of the Chargers.”

This sort of makes sense. The Buccaneers are packed with talent, and they need a good quarterback to become contenders. There are so many things for Brady, and the Buccaneers may easily attract him.

But, we have a hard time picturing Brady in a Buccaneers uniform. He won’t play for an irrelevant team. Well, let’s not forget that Brady once said that he is keeping an open mind. Does this mean that he may go to an irrelevant team? Let’s see what happens in the next few weeks. This will be a long season for the Patriots quarterback. He is the greatest of all players, and the Patriots better keep him.
