Report: Patriots Hiring Veteran Offensive Assistant Coach

The New England Patriots will enter one of the most interesting offseasons in the Bill Belichick-Tom Brady era. There are so many questions about Brady’s career plans, and the Patriots will have to take care of that topic. They have made the very first offseason move, and it revolves around the hiring of an offensive assistant coach.

The Patriots added to their coaching staff in an effort to strengthen the team. Jedd Fisch is joining the Patriots coaching staff, as confirmed by a league source and The Boston Globe’s Jim McBride. Head coach Bill Belichick has yet to determine Fisch’s role.

The Pats snatched the offensive assistant coach from the Rams

Fisch was the Los Angeles Rams’ assistant offensive coordinator. New England has an opening at wide receivers coach after Joe Judge left the team to become a head coach to the New York Giants. Fisch coached wide receivers at Michigan from 2015 to 2015 and with the Denver Broncos in 2008.

Fisch was offensive coordinator with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the period between 2013 and 2014. He was the Seattle Seahawks’ quarterbacks coach in 2010. Fisch was also part of the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans in the NFL and UCLA, Miami, Minnesota and Florida in college.

If by any chance you haven’t noticed, Fisch led a west coast offense with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while New England rely on an Erhardt-Perkins formula.

Troy Brown may easily fit in Judge’s role as wide receivers coach. He assisted Judge with this position in 2019.

New England made a few more changes, and one of these includes adding former player Vinnie Sunseri to their staff in the offseason.

The Patriots missed the chance to win a Super Bowl this season. The offense made a lot of mistakes, and the spectacular defense couldn’t repair the damage. It’s a missed chance for the champions, but they have something else to take care of. Brady’s contract. The GOAT is set to become a free agent in March, and his contract is the hottest topic in the next few weeks. Let’s hope that he will return with the team this spring.
