Report: Rival Coaches Talk Evolving LeBron James, Anthony Davis Dynamic

LeBron James arrived in Los Angeles to help the Lakers win a title. Anthony Davis was signed with the same purpose. Everyone discussed the Lakers’ dynamic. First, and coaches talked about the offense in LA. Who the offense would run through? LeBron said it would go through his new teammate. A few coaches talked to Joe Vardon of The Athletic following the Lakers’ 30-7 start to the 2019-20 season.

“If ‘through’ means to create, then it’s LeBron,” one rival Western Conference coach said. “If ‘through’ is to produce and finish, then probably AD. I would play through LeBron.”

“Another opposing coach said the Lakers feature Davis, sure, but no more than the Cavaliers featured [Kyrie] Irving at the height of their partnership in Cleveland,” Vardon also wrote, and he was referring to the comments made by another coach.

LeBron takes one more shot per match (19.7 to 18.7). He can also brag with a slightly higher usage rate (31.4 to 29.9) as confirmed by Basketball Reference. Davis makes the free-throw line more often (8.3 to 5.5) and averages two more points per game (27.1 to 25.1). However, LeBron pulls back ahead when passes enter the game. The king of basketball has far more assists than Davis (10.8 to 3.2) and leads the NBA in passes.

Lakers’ offense is ranked fourth in efficiency. LeBron and his teammates have won four win streaks of at least six games. Two of the team’s seven losses came when either Davis or James were out of the game.

The Lakers lead the Western Conference at the moment, and they are expected to make the playoffs this season. The Denver Nuggets are next on their list. The Lakers lead the Nuggets by 4.5 games heading into Wednesday’s match.

Los Angeles has a huge chance of winning the title this season. LeBron is in the primetime of his career, and Davis is excellent on the field. LeBron and Davis make the perfect duo on the floor, and they are stronger than anyone else in the NBA. Let’s see what happens in the next few weeks. It’s an important season for the Lakers.
