Stephen A. Smith Gives Outrageous Suggestion To Tom Brady In Free Agency Decision

Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman both discussed the possibilities regarding Tom Brady in free agency. Neither of them believes the quarterback will return to the New England Patriots next season.

Kellerman said that he thinks Brady, a free agent, will sign with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers could use a quarterback as Philip Rivers is also set to hit the open market.

Smith, on the other hand, pointed to the Tennessee Titans as a potential landing spot. Both Ryan Tannehill and Marcus Mariota are on the cusp of free agency, too.

“According to some article I think I read on NFL.com, (the Titans have) about 60.1 million (dollars) in projected cap space, but they’ve got a slew of people that they need to spend that money on with some longer-term commitments,” Smith said.

“If you’re talking about a swan song, if you’re talking about the twilight of your career ending in an ideal circumstance, what better way can it be than staying in the same conference, playing for a guy who is a friend who’s incredibly familiar with what you do, what you bring to the table, especially when you have weapons.”

Titans Might Have To Choose Between Brady And Tannehill

Tannehill proved himself this season, so the Titans would be better off spending their money internally than pursuing Brady.

Then again, Brady, a six-time Super Bowl champion, is the greatest quarterback in NFL history. The Titans might be able to provide a better supporting cast and a better shot at winning a seventh Lombardi Trophy.

” … If Tom Brady was quarterbacking (the Titans in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs), what did they do? They’re gonna stack the box, they’re gonna dare you to beat ’em,” Smith said. “If you’ve got receivers who can get open, Tom Brady could do some things for you. If you’ve got a running game that can distract, Tom Brady can do some things for you.”

Brady Is Yet To Decide

Brady acknowledged Sunday he’s “open-minded” about his future, which does not exclude his departure from New England. It could be an attempt to gain leverage in his negotiations with the Pats, or maybe TB12 really is considering changing the jersey. Still, Tom Brady in free agency is a topic well-worthy of discussions.
