Tom Brady’s Teammates Salute Amazing Quarterback After Possible Swan Song

Tom Brady and his team lost the wild-card game to the Tennessee Titans. The season is over for the Patriots, and fans are off to another topic. Will TB12 return to the field this spring? Brady is set to become a free agent in March, but he doesn’t really like to talk about his future plans with the team. Well, his teammates did all the talking. They all have incredible memories of their time together.

For special teams captain Matthew Slater, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Slater praised the quarterback for doing things the right way. Brady is successful, but he enjoys being himself. Slater likes Brady as a person, and the six rings come as a bonus. He is proud of his friend, and he is definitely grateful for everything Brady has taught him.

“It has been the experience of a lifetime,” Slater said. “He does things the right way and has all the success in the world but still remains himself. I think that says a lot about who he is as a man, and ultimately I care more about that than him being a six-time champion. I am proud to call him a friend and thankful for everything he has taught me as a football player, but also as a man.”

More great words from his teammates

Wide receiver Phillip Dorsett had an amazing long ride. For him, playing with Brady was a blessing. Not many people can say they’ve caught touchdown passes from TB12. Dorsett knows there are a lot of players who’d love to play with Brady, and he is grateful for his chance.

“It’s meant everything,” Dorsett said. “It’s been amazing. It’s been a long ride and an amazing ride. It’s a blessing. A lot of people can’t sit here and say that they’ve caught touchdown passes from Tom Brady. I’m one of them. There’s a lot of people that come through this league, and I know there’s a lot of people that would love to have a chance to play with him. I was one of them, so it’s been a blessing.”

Cornerback Stephon Gilmore likes Brady’s work ethic. Brady comes to work every day and keeps pushing himself, and that sure rubs off on every teammate. Gilmore is happy to play on the same team with Brady.

He said, “One thing I’ll remember is his work ethic. Him coming to work every day and pushing himself no matter how great he is, he’ll still push himself. It rubs off on everybody. It rubs off on me. So I’m just happy to be a part of it.”

Tight end Ben Watson was away for quite some time, but he watched Brady play. They exchanged text messages, and Watson appreciates everything Brady has done.

McCourty learned a lot

Safety Devin McCourty learned a lot from Brady. The quarterback and his looks at the game helped him become a better leader. Brady is a dedicated player, and he puts the ultimate preparation in it. Just talking to Brady helped him become a better player. McCourty can’t imagine seeing Brady out of the team.

“I don’t know his future,” the captain said. “That’s really on him. But I will say, from my second year being able to be a captain and sitting in those meetings and just hearing how he looks at the game — not just from a quarterback position but overall the game — and hearing his input each week when we got ready to go on Friday mornings taught me a lot as a leader. (It) taught me a lot from just understanding the game of football and how he looked at the game and the dedication and the preparation he put in.

“I got to learn that from Friday mornings at 7 a.m. for nine years straight. I got to do that. Just the conversations I’ve had with him throughout the years has made me a better player. It’s hard to imagine Tom not playing football; it’s hard to imagine him not playing here. But the business of football is what it is, but no matter what, in my 10 years here, to be able to learn from him and go against him, and from time to time intercept him at practice, has made me a way better player. I’ve appreciated everything he’s done for me and trying to help me out along the way.”

Not everyone wanted to talk

Safety Terrence Brooks took the loss really hard, and didn’t want to talk to reporters.

New England lost the match, and they are now off to something else. Keeping Brady on the roster is a must, and they have to do the impossible to keep him around. Brady is their superstar, and he is the best in the NFL.
