Update Emerges On Phillip Dorsett’s Future With Patriots

The Patriots nation is focused on quarterback Tom Brady and his future with the team. TB12 is expected to become a free agent in March, and fans can’t wait to see what happens next. What about Phillip Dorsett’s future with the Patriots? He was expected to get a big role in the passing game of the team this past season. Unfortunately, his game wasn’t really sharp. Will the Patriots give up on him?

ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported that the Patriots may not bring back Dorsett. He will hit the open market in March.

In his 14 games with the Patriots, Dorsett had 29 catches for 397 yards and five touchdowns. He didn’t really transform into a reliable weapon. The Patriots had problems with the receiving unit this season.

Dorsett played collegiate football at the University of Miami. The Indianapolis Colts selected him in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was the 29th overall pick.

The wideout played in 11 games with the Colts as a rookie. He finished the season with 18 catches for 225 yards and a score. In 2016, he played in 15 games, and had 33 catches for 528 yards and two scores.

Before the start of the 2017 season, the Colts traded him to the Patriots for quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Indianapolis was looking for a replacement for Andrew Luck.

There’s not much to say about Phillip Dorsett’s future with the Pats

Dorsett didn’t have a huge impact on the game in his first season with the Patriots. He had 12 catches for 194 yards. In 2018, he had 32 catches for 290 yards while hitting the end zone on three occasions.

The Patriots will really need to boost the receivers unit. They will probably get rid of Dorsett. They don’t want him on the roster in 2020.

This makes us think that the Patriots are all-in when it comes to adjusting their roster. They signed and released receivers in 2019. Who will come to the team this season? This will probably be one of the longest offseason the team has ever had. What will happen if Brady leaves the team in free agency? Who will replace him?
