Patriots Set Deadline On Tom Brady’s Decision

The New England Patriots will have to set a deadline on when they want a decision from quarterback Tom Brady. The veteran quarterback may become a free agent for the first time in his career. New England expects to get an answer from Brady before the start of the free agency. The information was confirmed by Michael Giardi of NFL Network.

The NFL free agency will start on March 18, so the Patriots would want to know more about Brady’s next move. Head coach Bill Belichick and the rest of the organization will have a hard time dealing with Brady’s loss. Things will get even messier if Brady leaves the team deep into free agency. New England may go after Teddy Bridgewater, Ryan Tannehill and Marcus Mariota. They may lose these top players.

Rob Gronkowski did the same thing last season. He didn’t make a decision until March 24. Gronk announced his decision deep into free agency, and the Patriots couldn’t fill his void at tight end. There was no replacement for Gronk.

The Patriots will try to negotiate with Brady in the next two weeks.

Will the Patriots make Tom Brady stay?

Brady has attracted the attention of the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans. We even have information about the offer Las Vegas is willing to give. It looks like the team would give Brady a two-year contract worth $10 million.

“So where do things currently stand? After conversations over the past few days, this is my understanding of where things are. Negotiations will begin ‘in a couple of weeks.’ I interpret that as during or immediately after the  NFL Combine which starts about February 26 and concludes March 1.”

Derrick Henry from the Tennessee Titans doesn’t like having Brady on the roster. In his interview with Taylor Lewan and Will Compton on the “Bussin With the Boys,” Henry dismissed the idea of signing Brady. The Titans came off of an AFC Championship Game with Ryan Tannehill as the starting quarterback.

“[Brady] still can play,” Henry said. “Obviously, age doesn’t matter for him, he’s still playing at a high level, but my question would be: Why ain’t Ryan good enough, you know? . . . Speaking for everyone on the offense, we fed off of him . . . Ryan Tannehill is our quarterback and went to the AFC Championship, why would we not want Ryan back?”
