David Ortiz Weighs In On Patriots’ Tom Brady’s Future

David Ortiz understands Tom Brady perfectly. He knows what the New England Patriots quarterback goes through at the moment. In other words, Ortiz feels for TB12.

The Patriots nation is pretty much fed up with all the rumors and speculation about the star quarterback and his pending free agency. Ortiz knows what Brady goes through. Yes, he shared his take Friday at spring training on where he’d like TB12 to play. However, the Boston Red Sox knows it’s all up to the GOAT.

David Ortiz may be right about Tom Brady and his free agency

“I don’t want him to go anywhere. I want him to stay,” Ortiz told WEEI.com. “That’s my mind. But it’s up to whatever is best for him and his family. It’s not all about what people think. He has a choice of what is good for him. It’s not just for people telling him what he has to do.”

Ortiz had an incredible career in the northeast. He knows a few things about a looming free agency. In 2011, he was about to hit the open market but ended up playing with the Sox. He signed a one-year deal. Ortiz stayed in Boston for 14 years before calling it career in 2016.

Ortiz is a 10-time All-Star, seven-time Silver Slugger, three-time World Series Champ and World Series MVP in 2013. He knows pretty much everything about legacies. Some say that Brady’s legacy would be tarnished if he left the Patriots. Ortiz disagrees on this one.

“His legacy has already been built. It’s always there,” he added. “That’s not the problem. His problem is not going to be (the) legacy. He could go and play somewhere else for the next 10 years when he returns to New England his legacy is going to be there.”

If Brady decides to sign with another team, his decision may affect New England’s free agency options. If he decides to stay with the Patriots, the new collective bargaining agreement may affect the final contract.

What will happen in the next few games? Will the great Tom Brady leave the Patriots in free agency? If yes, where will he go next? Tennessee? Las Vegas?
