LeBron James’ ‘Dream Shake’ Carves Him Place In Lakers-Celtics Rivalry

LeBron James entered the well-known Lakers-Celtics rivalry. Now he has a chance to enter history as well. The king of basketball had a chance to hit another mark in this chapter of NBA history. He took a step back and enjoyed every bit of it.

LeBron scored 29 points and put his team ahead on a fallaway jumper with 30 seconds left of the game. The Lakers split season series with Boston in a 114-112 win, and it was more than brilliant. King James also stacked nine assists and eight rebounds in another amazing game. He missed a tying free throw and then hit the turnaround shot over Jayson Tatum to put his team ahead to stay in their fifth straight victory overall.

“I had been setting him up all night with the back-down to the drop step to the baseline,” he said. “I figured he would sit on it, thinking I would try it again, so I just went to my back-down, gave a little Dream Shake to the baseline and was able to open up the middle and get my fadeaway.”

Referees called Tatum called for an offensive foul in the final second, and LA celebrated yet another memorable game between two teams with 33 NBA titles between them.

LeBron was brilliant in the Lakers-Celtics rivalry

LeBron recorded a triple-double when his team won in Boston last season in his first taste of the rivalry. However, they had lost the ensuing two meetings with the Celtics.

“It’s just special to be part of this rivalry,” LeBron said. “We understand that this has been going on since the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, all the way through. So to be a part of a rivalry, to be a part of a historical two-franchise group, this is special. … (We love) to represent this rivalry with the utmost respect and play this game the right way, as all the former players have done in the past.”

He referred to Celtics legend Bill Russell. The Boston great watched the game at courtside and wore a Kobe Bryant jersey to honor the Lakers legend. LeBron also referred to Tatum. The Celtic player matched his career-high with 41 points while sporting a purple wristband in honor of the Black Mamba. He was his mentor and teacher.

“That’s a great atmosphere,” said Boston’s Jaylen Brown, who stacked 20 points. “It doesn’t get too much better than that. To be honest, I had a great time. Even though we lost, it was fun being out there competing at the highest level, and it makes you thirsty for the postseason.”

Lakers superstar Anthony Davis scored 32 points and had 13 rebounds for the Lakers. It was a brilliant game between the rivals, and everyone enjoyed it.
