Markieff Morris Reacts To First Time Playing With LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t make a move ahead of the NBA trade deadline. Darren Collison decided to stay retired. The stories franchise came up with a few formulas, but they didn’t really do much. There was no room for a trade, and that wasn’t a problem because there was no need for a change. That’s when Markieff Morris stepped in, and yes, he is really excited to share the floor with LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the rest of the players on the roster. Morris joined the Lakers.

Morris had his debut with the team on Tuesday. Media members wanted to know more about his experience during the debut. As you may be guessing, Morris felt really great, and he really enjoyed the opportunity. He was really tired, but it was a good game. The newly-acquired player hadn’t played in two and a half weeks, and this came like a refreshment for him.

“It felt great,” Morris said of his Lakers debut. “I was excited to get out there with the team. I’m excited for the opportunity. I was tired as hell out there tonight. I haven’t played in two and a half weeks. Had a good feel for it. Trying to get my feet under me.”

Morris got the chance to play with King James for the first time. LeBron had a 40-point night, and the Lakers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans. Morris praised LeBron and said he is the best player in the NBA.

“Just trying to pick my spots, really,” Morris said of playing with LeBron. “Trying to play off of him. Best player in the game. He makes the job a lot easier for us. I think we got something special.”

The Lakers have excellent chemistry this season, and players play really well together. They are so close, and Morris joined the best team in the Western Conference. He has already played with Jared Dudley.

“For me, I’m a low-key kind of guy,” Morris said. “A bunch of these guys I’ve been around and I’ve known. I’ve been on three teams with Dudley. He makes it easier for me to come here and get acclimated with these guys, but like I said, I’ve known a bunch of these guys for a couple of years now. It was easy, man. I’m an easy-going guy. I might look a little tough or mean or something like that, but it’s just on the court. Yes, I got to play that role.”

The Pistons faced a lot of difficulties this season, and they need to revamp the roster. Blake Griffin suffered another knee injury. Star center Andre Drummond was sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Morris and Reggie Jackson were bought out. The latter signed a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers and plays with Markieff’s brother, Marcus.

In other words, Markieff left one of the worst teams in the NBA to sign with the best team at the moment. This is a really good chance for him.

“It means everything,” Morris said. “It means everything to be in the purple and gold. Growing up from where Kobe is from…putting on this jersey is special. It’s special to be a part of this group, and I’m just happy to be here.”
