Peter King Reveals When Patriots’ Tom Brady Should Make Decision

Tom Brady will become a free agent for the first time in his professional career. The Patriots quarterback will open the free market on March 18. NFL teams can start interviewing him on March 16. Will the New England Patriots let the star quarterback go? Peter King has a theory about Tom Brady and the timing of his decision.

According to him, TB12 will talk to the team about his decision by March 12 or 13. This will give the Patriots enough time to make a decision on the signal-caller.

“There’s two phases,” Florio said. “Is he going to go back to the Patriots? That’s phase one. I think as a practical matter, that’s the ship that has to sail before March the 16th. You either sign with the Patriots or you embark on the Reggie White, Peyton Manning free agency tour. I don’t think the Patriots are still in play once the boat is out of the harbor. Do you agree with me on that?”

Is Peter King right about Tom Brady?

King was pretty sure about his response. He doesn’t think that Brady’s case is still open, but he insists that the quarterback will talk to his team at that particular moment.

“Probably,” King replied. “Probably, but I’m just going to say this, Mike. I don’t think that in this particular case anything is set in stone, but I do have a pretty good feeling that we’ll probably get to March 12th or 13th and know if there’s any chance he’s going to go back to the Patriots.”

Earlier reports suggest that Brady and the Patriots have yet to discuss the contract situation. The information was confirmed by Mike Reiss of ESPN. There have been no negotiations.

If Brady leaves the Patriots, he will have to inform the team before free agency. Rob Gronkowski did that a little too late last season, and the Patriots were left without a tight end of his caliber. Let’s hope that the team won’t go through the same scenario again. What are the chances of seeing Brady put on his Patriots uniform? Let’s see what happens by March 15.
