Reason Behind Tom Brady’s Displeasure With Patriots Revealed

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s displeasure with the team may not be related to the amount he was paid. He is probably unhappy with the length of his last contract.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reveals that he believes the quarterback’s displeasure with New England goes back to last summer. Brady wasn’t given a long-term deal, and he received an $8 million pay bump. However, this contract didn’t give him a guarantee for the upcoming season.

“My belief is that years, not dollars, were at the heart of Brady’s displeasure with last summer’s negotiations — that landed him an $8 million raise for 2019, but nothing beyond that,” Breer explained. “In the end, word was that Brady would’ve liked to do a reasonable deal that would take him to the end of his career. That didn’t happen.”

Will Tom Brady’s displeasure push him away from the Patriots?

Who is getting Tom Brady? Many teams have shown interest in Brady, including the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans.

In his column, Breer noted that the Raiders may appeal to Brady because of their great talent. Tennessee may be an attractive destination for Brady due to Mike Vrabel. Brady and Vrabel were teammates and won three Super Bowls together.

Ian Rapoport from NFL Network reported that owner Robert Kraft is willing to offer TB12 a deal in excess of $30 million. This move would make Brady one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. Rapoport didn’t provide much information about the length of the deal. But, he did reveal that the Patriots quarterback has one or two great seasons left.

If New England offers Brady a two-year deal, he will be committed until 44. Brady has already said that he is ready to play until 45.

“The Patriots are intent on keeping Brady, obviously, believing he has one or two good years left. They are willing, sources say, to pay him in excess of $30 million per year to keep him in New England — a significant commitment that would bring his salary more in line with other elite QBs.”

Michael Giardi of NFL Network believes that Brady isn’t interested in money. He just wants Bill Belichick to give him more weapons.
