Report: Markieff Morris Contract With Lakers Revealed

The Los Angeles Lakers couldn’t get Marcus Morris prior to the NBA Trade Deadline, and now they are signing his brother Markieff. Adrian Wojnarowski was among the first to report about Morris’ contract.

According to this report, Markieff will sign with the team on a $1.75 million disabled player exception once he clears waivers this evening.

The Lakers will probably opt to waive DeMarcus Cousins. He didn’t join the team this season due to a torn ACL he suffered in August. The team will make this move to free enough space for Morris once he clears waivers. Analysts explain that Cousins’ injury is the reason the franchise has spending money under the disabled player exception provision.

Markieff Morris is an excellent addition to the Lakers roster

Morris averaged 11.0 points and 3.9 rebounds in 44 games with the Detroit Pistons. He shoots close to 40 percent from beyond the arc on 4.3 attempts per game. His shooting skills will be of great help for the team that hasn’t established much of a perimeter presence.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Danny Green are considered great floor spacers. But Kyle Kuzma, LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been inconsistent from beyond the arc.

Head coach Frank Vogel loses additional shooting when he uses a two-big set with Davis and either Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee.

Morris will fill the void between the starters and second unit. He is a versatile player, and Vogel will probably give him minutes at both forward spots.

Los Angeles has been interested in getting a point guard in the last period. However, they are interested in getting wing players at the deadline. Morris is probably the final piece Vogel needs to complete the championship puzzle.

Things look more than great for the Lakers. They don’t need to make any greater change to the roster because the current squad made a 42-12 record.

LeBron once said that his team is where it needs to be, so yes, this is pretty much everything we should know about the Lakers team. They are off to winning a title, and Morris will be of great help in the process. We can’t wait to see the best of him.
